A Journey of Sacrifice and Triumph
The commemoration marks 39 years since the conclusion of the NRM/A Bush War—a struggle characterized by immense sacrifice and unwavering determination. Every soldier envisioned victory during those challenging times, striving to restore Uganda from the brink of collapse.
Acknowledging Our Progress
Ugandans celebrate this day not just to remember our past, but to honor the circumstances that inspired our liberation and the nation-building journey that followed. This is the perfect moment to appreciate all Ugandans for their resilience.
The peace and security ushered in by the NRM government have positively transformed the lives of our people. Today, Uganda stands with a robust system of laws and institutions that guarantee justice for all, fostering an environment where citizens can pursue their potential without hindrance.

Fostering Self-Sufficiency and Innovation
By investing heavily in socio-economic development, we are shifting mindsets from dependency to self-sufficiency, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit. Our liberation story is connected to other struggles across the continent, emphasizing our shared kinship—no nation – can achieve sustainable transformation in isolation
A Legacy of Justice
The belief that victory would come sustained everyone—those who toiled on the frontline, sacrificing sleep and comfort. All who fought and survived those five challenging years held onto the certainty that justice would prevail.
Join Us in Celebration
As we gather to commemorate this significant liberation of Uganda, let us reflect on our journey and renew our commitment to building a nation worthy of our people. Together, we honour our past and embrace the future.
